Impair Speech is a spell that alters the way the target talks. It won't seem to have an effect (as a message), even if it was successful and it will display no trait on the character, so the only way to know one is affected is say something.
Levels of Speech Impairment
There are currently three types of speech impairment:
- The first is normal, where speech is affected, but the changes get weaker over time until they disappear completely.
- The second type of impairment is a permanent impairment and does not dissipate over time. This can occur when a critical hit lands on the target, or if you cast the same impairment on yourself.
- The final type of impediment is severe, where a target has serious difficulties communicating and might be only able to make certain noises. This can occur if a target's mind is at zero, and the variant has a sever stage. If there isn't one for the variant it will revert to being a normal permanent speech impediment.
To rid yourself of a speech impairment, you can either use the Restore Self spell, wait until it disappears on it's own, or visit Hilda with a Cleansing Soap. If it is permanent or severe impairment, you have the option of casting a different variant on yourself to replace the permanent impairment with a temporary one, and then waiting for that impairment to dissipate.
